A discussion of the role of Christian activists in the "healing process" for the new Eastern Europe. Examples of church roles in promoting, as well as condemning, the movement toward democracy in Eastern Europe are presented. The formation & goals of an ecumenical network for peace & democracy, a grass-roots organization promoting European solidarity, are also explored. Problems relative to the future of Eastern European development are outlined, & the philosophy of the ecumenical network toward future economic growth is reviewed, noting how it plans to raise public awareness about the need to create all-European social movements & citizens' initiatives.
